Anyone got a good source (store) that prices aren't too bad.  I want to try wool this year.

I'd try shopping the internet once you know what size you need. I like CC Filson for coats. They aren't cheap but you'll be able to hand it down to your kids.

They make single and double mackinaws. I wear the single because it doesn't get that cold very often here. I get it a bit large so I can layer if it does get too cold. My wife wears the double mackinaw.

I can't say enough about SmartWool (tm) longjohns. I've bought over the Internet and at Cabela's, REI, and generic ski shops. Fine stuff. Beats the heck out of polyproplene.

I've heard that SmartWool is good stuff. My daughter likes their socks. I'll have to give them a look, although I'm pretty well loaded with longies at the current time.

Steely,

I've got the Filson double mackinaw and it is too heavy for most hunting conditions.  I've got me an eyeball peeled open for a single mackinaw now.

We used to have a place in town that sold single and doubles for a good price but they went under. I thought the double would be too hot but my wife likes here. I don't think women have enough muscle mass to generate as much heat as guys....which is good because it keeps them in the bed even if we smell a bit.
