Yep, you sure are.You have to want to be poor, have folks think they own you after they pay you thier money, have too many hoses/mules, and equipment, and yet no money to go to town. The hours are 24 per day working, first up,last to bed. You eithe have to buy out a license that someone else wants to sell or find a local where there aren't any ( about like finding hen's teeth)to operate in a national forest or wilderness.

You have to usually prove that you have the equipment and livestock to supprt the business, know the country you are  to be outfitting in, and usaully past a few test on wilderness skills, first aid, etc. Then ther is the libility insurance, that ain't cheap

Hey SADDLESORE . . . if the wife and I show up at the rodeo, how do I know which one is you?  2 legs or 4?

Ain't enough room in there for a rodeo.  I noticed that last year.  It REALLY put a damper on the barrel racing.

I don't go to that rodeo. Too many wannabe cowboy yuppies, and all those buckle bunnies chasing them. They did a real diservice when the county wouldn't work with the PRCA in lettting it stay at Penrose

I'm am going to see Baxter Black next Saturday night though.

Damn this retirement is hard, I v'e been working straight through here around the house and  don't get the weekend off. Semi load of hay is coming tommorrow.

Take it from somebody who floated in thet boat, 'cept my wife didn't want to an' I had to tell her I was doin' it no matter.  Saddlesore is dead on.  The work is harder than mos' people will ever want to do for more than a couple weeks a year, an' the money don't stretch far as the bills do.  Like a farmer, you generly gotta take on extra jobs to make ends meet.  Mos' outfitters' bodies start talkin' to 'em at 'bout 50, an' the message ain't a nice one.

After I wrote this thread, even before SS responded I'd already thought about some PAMB tellin me he was pissed cause I didn't shot the gun fer him when he missed.  I am the LAST guy you want to be an ass too, although in the last couple of years I'm much better at not tellin folks when they're overbearin, dumb arses, I still ain't afraid of much, and probably wouldn't do well with lazy pink arsed clients.  (Forget that noise).

Still would like to get the mileage in the woods, been thinking of different ways I could do that.  Guy's I just need to move, I was a farmer so hard work feels good in a way (strange - you call it).  Guess, I'm not that old yet.
