Nice animals for sure, Ron. Especially the Muley. You sure she wasn't using something more appropriate like a 7 RemMag or 7 WbyMag? Almost seems criminal to shoot these fine trophies with such a small cartridge .
That Muley pic is funny. I guarantee ya, my wife shoots something like that, she ain't getting away with a simple hand-shake, like she were a common male hunting partner. I'm planting a big wet one on her . Maybe two . Guess that might be how they showed effection in the old days though. I don't know. >> korey

Damn. I hunted the breaks of the Snake a few years. Never saw a mulie like that. I was too close to town though. Farther downstream by Lapwai would have been better.
i am starting to think that deer and other game animals were simply BIGGER back then than they are now, under most circumstances. i don't know if it is habitat destruction, a change in diet or the fact that they areg etting killed off too young. might be a combination of all three.
korey - i gotta agree with you on the treatment of the wife! of course, back then, people were more reserved and formal, especially in front of a camera. one thing about o'connor, is that he was OLD SCHOOL....and i wouldn't have him be any other way!

I guess the .308 and .30-06 are girl's guns too. My daughter shoots the .308 and my wife shoots the 06. She's gotten a few deer and nice mountain goat with that Sako. I think a lot of guys want to feel all macho. In reality shooting most rifles doesn't take a burly 200 lb. guy to do it well.
I've taught both men and women to shoot and cast a fly rod and almost every time the woman will learn faster and easier because she doesn't think she already knows how to do it just because of the plumbing she was born with. Most guys are the opposite.

Well, I suppose the pictures above confirm, the Mauser is in fact a girls gun (assuming ole O'Connor's wife is in fact of the female persuasion). Is that a bad thing?
