OK bcboy. Thats twice you mentioned being chased by wolves. Did they get your "pard" so you took his rifle ? Everybody else is too much man to ask but PLEASE tell the story. We're all curious.

Regarding your "far shot" seeing how big that deer is how could you of  missed him? Wink Rregarding Selways I believe if I'm not mistaken he has a scope on his so he'd have to be shooting 100 yards further to equate to you range.

Congratulations, BC Boy! I knew it wouldn't be too long till you broke your 348 in properly. It's a great chambering in a great rifle, and will continue to do it's job with minimum fuss as long as there are a few champions of that fine round alive. Nice deer, too! We are so fortunate to have some of those "big" muleys up here in the North. I shot a little meat buck a few days ago with my new 700 "Classic" 300 Savage. Will be heading to the Salmon Arm area in a few days, hope to add a big buck to the tally there. Take care, and keep us informed re: your Moose hunt. Regards, Eagleye.

BC,

I'll bet the 348 is a purdy good wolf cartridge.  I had a cougar working his way towards me on a muzzleloader hunt once so I kinda know the feeling.  Nice buck!

FVA,

I knowed some smarty pants was bound to bring up that scope issue.  But I see BC was packin' TWO rifles... an one 'em had a SCOPE too!  So how do we REALLY know which rifle he used on that fine buck???

BC,

Well done. It simply adds more zest to the whole equation to use a classic  vintage rifle such as that. The ghosts associated with your rifle are no doubt quite proud of you as it's new owner. One very fine animal.AW
