As a lot of you guys know, I have a love affair with .22 RF caliber guns. Being the owner last week of three High Standard .22 semi-auto pistols, I was quite proud of them. Last Friday, I was on a road trip to pick up machinery, all the way to Long Island New York. While I was there picking up the machinery, the guy pops three High Standard Semi-autos and asks me what I think. I told him thet, "I think you should throw them in with the machines and adjust the price." Well, I am now thw proud owner of three more, and am completely at peace with the planet......for now. Anyway, I just had to tell someone, and I did.................. Smiling (for a change) Kingpin

There are times when a normal man must, spit in his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Nice that you could get the Pistols out of the People's Republic of New York before they became paper-clips or something else as "useful."

I love my bull barrel target H-S. I don't shoot competition any longer. Are H-S still used? No local 22 pistol teams, used my k-22 for years in the Police Revolver League. But few LEOs carry wheel guns any longer. |

That's a cool story Kingpin. What a great way to become the owner of a couple new toys when it's completely unexpected. And to find three of something that you really like/can use, too.

Kingpin; Just bring one of 'em with ya when you get out here. Now then, what are the great .22's? We've got Kingpin's input on pistols. I'd have to add the Colt Woodsman to the short list also. But, my category is the rifles. Who's on first? Marlin 39 & variants, still in production for over 100 years, & a legacy gun if there ever was one, or the primo Winchester 52? The CZ452/453 is cream also. And, if you ever get a chance to own a Remington Speedmaster don't pass it up if the price is reasonable. We'll get all kinds of arguments about fourth place & down to fill the top ten, but the first three slots are filled. 900F |

If we are staying on handguns. The S&W k-22 model 17 has got to be on the short list. |

+1 Had one many years ago & should've never sold 'er.... Have a cool little stainless S&W 63 .22 wheelgun which is on the "J" frame, though. Other .22 handguns I'm happy to have: Beretta Model 71. Colt .22 Conversion Unit on a 1911A-1 frame. Ruger MkII with 5.5" bull barrel. Ruger 22/45 MkIII with 4.5" slabside barrel. |

Picked up a new S&W model 617-6 .22LR 10 shot double action revolver about a month ago. This is a great handgun for small game and plinking, one of the advantages to it is that it is the same frame as my model 586 in .357 so it helps with very affordable practice. Rodney.
