Yea, that makes sense Bear. You are right Savage did make an A-5 knockoff. I dont remember the model, but it was closer to the Remington than the Browning. I guess their is nothing like the original. Wing master |

Yea, on auto loading guns designed in the early 1900s, they were thought of as dangerous as you might keep firring???? Only time I saw this was in a John Wayne movie, Big Jake. I doubt it was a problem. So military training was to single shot the weapon till experience was gained, BAR, 1903; but I always thought you could easier just load one single round in the chamber???? Once upon a time I saw an accidental discharge when a game warden was checking shotguns to see if they were loaded with just 3 rounds (plugged). He knew little about guns or any weapon and certainly wasn't suffocated enough to handle any automating weapon much less a Browning square back auto. He keep trying to cycle the gun then flipped the cut-off and then started over again and loaded a round and pulled the trigger. It was just luck he didn't kill someone, as he was turning around talking an arguing with experience hunters telling him what he was doing wrong. Twice I've had game wardens discharge a gun accidentally while trying to check magazine capacity. Seems they would be trained to let the hunter cycle his own weapon, they could count shells ejected (they might need to take their shoes off and count on their toes). I have only had a Game Warden check for a plugged shotgun one time. He had me do it. It was a Winchester 1400. I didnt count them coming out, I counted them going in. I thought that satisfied him better when the third shell wouldn't go into the magazine. One other interesting thing about the Remington model 11. Clyde Barrow carried one that had the stock cut off so he could carry it under his coat. Ill bet it didn't have a plug in it. Wing master |
