grabbed my last two mulies the other day that i wanted shoulder mounted to finish up my set.  totally contrasting animals, for sure.

2002 30" wide :

2006 157" narrow :

this is a pic i've been looking forward to and working towards for a long time, now.  i've always had myself a little goal with my mulies     ...     6 animals worthy of mounting; all shot locally in the sr valley; with an average over 160" :

mission accomplished !!!

Very nice! Do you get any heat from the wife?

ran out to my taxidermist's last night.  thanksgiving's bonus time for my company so i wanted to get him some $$$ to get the ball rolling on shoulder mounts for the sika deer and black hawaiian ram gotten on the last nebraska trip.

i also got to pick up a finished mount from him.

i got this european rambouillet / texas dahl hybrid this last january down in oklahoma.  it was a nice ram.  32" curls.  so, fully planning on shoulder mounting him, we caped him up and cut the skull cap to save room for the trip home.

minor mistake.

over the next couple weeks, our friend down in ok got ahold of us and said he could get much larger rambouillet's.  knowing this, i scrapped the idea (and cost) of the shoulder mount.  unfortunately, i'd obviously painted myself into a corner cutting the skull as i had.  in hindsight, i should have kept the head whole for a european mount.  water under the bridge.

so, back in june, i dropped the skull cap off at the tax and asked what he could do? he rumaged through his books for a couple weeks and called me back with his idea.

he'd found this wall pedistal mounting system that was NOT designed for the horns of an exotic ram.  but he thought, with some work, he could make it into something'd unique and look nice.  i told him he had free rein to work it up as he saw fit.

i know he had alot more work into this then what he typically would for a standard european mount but he charged me the same.  i love the guy.  and his work.  he knocked it out of the park     ...     again.

i didn't give him much to work with and what he did surpassed any of my expectations of what i'd be getting back, and by a large margin

:

now     ...     where to hang it ?

ran up to the taxidermist and picked up some things.

2012 texas dahl ram :

2012 jacob's 4-horn ram :

this was the first 4-horn he'd ever shoulder mounted.  to be honest, i think this was the first time he'd ever even seen a 4-horn sheep.

picked up the last piece of my exotic sheep grand slam from the taxidermist yesterday.  took longer then usual for this one (almost 2 years), but worth the wait.

2012 black hawaiian ram :
