So, the safe is starting to get a bit full. My first
thought was " I need second safe", but SWMBO might
disagree with that assessment. A quick inventory
shows that I have five .22s.

The question is which to part with? #1 is a 1981,
first year of production, 77/22, all original with the
exception of the extended mag release needed for my
fat fingers. I have the original that can be
reinstalled. #2 is a 10/22 in a Fajen stock, 16 1/2"
heavy barrel with a muzzle break, it's had a trigger
job for a nice clean 3 lb let off. Both wear Leupold
glass and shoot well.

The other three are sort of off the table; my Anschutz
54.18 silhouette gun which was a gift from SWMBO, a
carbine barrel for the T/C Contender, and an archaic
Mossberg Model 46 boy's rifle that was my first gun.

Thoughts?

Thanks, 788

Keep the most accurate.

unless you have kids/grandkids, the Mossberg would go first.

The Contender barrel next. then the 77/22.

The anshutz and 10/22 would be my keepers.

Just my thoughts. yours are the thoughts that matter.

PS I just bought a second low cost safe.

Convert the 77/22 to 17 Mach 2.

It will fix your too many .22's problem.

It will keep it in mint condition because you won't find any ammo to
shoot it.

Fella's;

Well, the Contender barrel doesn't count in my book, it
takes up very close to zero room. Besides, it's a single
shot which is about as useless as mammaries on a goldfish
for a MYGAWDS shooter, so I wouldn't miss it if it were
gone either.

My personal opinion is that five .22's is not too many.
I don't know how many I have, but I do know it's more
than five.

I will note that the way to sell SWMBO on a new safe is
to list the advantages to her. I used to do this
professionally you understand. By upgrading from an RSC
to a true safe you will get far superior thermal
protection. Then get it large enough to allow her some
room in it also. A huge selling point is preservation of
the wedding pictures and stuff she inherited from her
mother.

The protected interior volume of a safe is the cheapest
part of it. In other words, a safe twice the size will
not cost twice as much. Go big.
