Well I stopped at a local shop today to check out some binocs, and to
my surprise they were having a HUGE closeout on last years Hoyt bows. I
wasn'y really expecting it, but since I dedicated my other bow to
bowfishing for now I said what the hey, a Hypertec followed me home,
along with a few accessories of course. I got it set up and got a
little shooting in, man this thing is smooth and quiet. And it hits its
wall solid as a rock. Chronied with my heavy 425gr carbons shows
260fps, its set at 60#. I still need to fine tune it but so far the
thing is shooting great out to 30 yards. Only bad thing is it has such
a short brace hight it slaps my forarm now and then, but not a huge
deal. Only 2 months to go....... On another note regaurding speed demons. I was up shooting my old bow with a few friends the other night and one had just baught a new whitetail expedition that he was tuning for a 3D shoot the next day. He was bragging that it was shooting at 326 fps, it was set at 67# but he only had 325gr arrows. It was fast but you could tell the arrows were way too light, the bow was making all sorts of odd noises on release. And, he was planning on turning it up to 80# for hunting. He never could get it to shoot acurate enough and wound up taking it back, I suggested he try a little heavier arrow, but he wouldn't because then he'd loose the speed. Sigh...... |

| Thanks Al, but I got a good enough price on the thing I was able to set it up and still pay less than what the bow itself originally sold for, so I came away pretty happy. Once I get it paper tuned I'll take it up after some 5 spot targets and see how well it shoots for me compared to my golden eagle. |

bk: arnt you a lefty???? if you are nathan has a left handed killer sight. he picked it up without even noticeing it .. only gave 30.00 bucks for it . the go for 70 or more now. me and all 3 of the boys use them. good for on the ground or in the trees.

BK, just some thoughts on that arm contact. A leather armguard will avoid any pain. Bracing arm contact by the string is usually a sign of the bow twisting toward the brace arm upon release. this usually hurts your fore arm and reduces accuracy. If the bow is tensioned under a slight twist when drawn, it twists back when released and pushes the string into your forarm. Keeping the hand open on the brace arm releaves the 'twist' and improves the shot. It is easy to see when the bow is shot,but tough for me to describe. BEAR |

 , thanks though.Bear, I have an armguard here somewhere and have been trying to find it. I beleive I know what you mean on the grip. The string doesn't slap everytime or even very hard, but its right there, getting a good hold on it shouldn't take too much practice. I do try to avoid a death grip, basically letting the bow pull against the web or the thumb, but keeping enough grip not to allow the bow to be 'loose.' Planning on paper tuning it today, thanks for all the info before, good stuff to know. |

Hey BK Congrats on the new bow,I know you already know this but in all my archery shooting I have found the only time my boys or I get slapped is when theres somthing on the bow not set just right,frist thing I would do is go through your set up step by step. All of our bows have wriststraps on them and when we shoot we don't acually hold the bow at all,as it pulls agisnt the web of our hand as you said and just barly close are fingers around the bow,don't know if that makes any sense. ------------- God,Mother,Country,and Hot Rods.
