In 2008, I wanted to put together a .45 Super.  I went looking for a donor 1911 at our local spring gun show that year and walked out with a nib RIA 1911 A1 For $399.  No frills at all.  Just their basement bargain, blue light special.  My brother had just used the same handgun to make his .400 Corbon so I let him have mine to do all the improvements and upgrades he did to his.  I really like the way it turned out.

My handload has the 230 gr. Hornady XTP moving along at 1119 fps so she's a pretty stout little handgun.

Rock Island has kinda become a fan favorite.  Over the years, I added two more A1's to the safe.  The flat dark earth .45 ACP was purchased in 2021.  It came stock ($499.99) with a lot of the features I had to have my brother add to my .45 Super and has a 185 gr. XTP going 1071 fps.  Bottom A1 was purchased in 2022 and is in .38 Super.  I've had nothing done to that one ($429.99) except for load development, getting a 124 gr. XTP going 1284 fps.

I've found these RIA's to be a nice combination of quality and affordability.  Always looking to add another.     Thumbs Up    k

My 10mm is a rock island. I was just out shooting it at 100 yard gong today. LOVE IT.

LOL.  100 yds.  Awesome.  Did you work up a handload for your 10 or were you shooting factory?     k

Hand loads.
I wanted to us hard cast 175 powder coated we made but they did not shoot well.
Now we use blue dot and 155 HP.
Clap
I have some Buffalo bore 225s but there not as accurate and a "Pain" to shoot.
