Up where we deer hunt in the Snowy's.
On the people's ranch, the guy my boy knows Traps, Last year he got a huge male wolf this year so far some coyotes and this Bobcat.
Not the first one on his dads place but the largest.
He said he saw a bear track when he was checking if traps.
He said " NOT A BLACK BEAR"
This is very late to be seeing ANY bear tracks.

Great pics.    here We have just limited  trapping season for bobcats, and even then you need a limited supply cat trapping tag.

So when I was trapping beaver/coyotes (up until I got to old 2 years ago) we had to RELEASE any kitty that we caught!!   kitties are easy to catch but one h3ll of a thing to release unharmed.

I live in a very heavy populated urban area.  But we have just had a pair of Fishers move in.  Big mean things.  no real traping season for them, but I expect our local wild turkey and squirrel populations to go away this winter.

That's a good looking cat.

I don't know much about cats or trapping but my son trapped for several years. I remember Bob cat pelts being worth $$ Mucho Denaro$$.

My son tells a story of the time he caught a mountain lion in one of his traps. In Wyoming they have to be released unharmed. He had a couple of his buddies come out to help. I'm not sure how they did it but one of his buddies proved that the old saying about "sorting and sacking wildcats" was a real thing.

Can tell you it starts with putting a very heavy blanket, tarp or carpet over all of kitty.  Having a few extra bodies to lay on top can be steps 2.   After that you need to create as you go.

bobcats and racoons can be done carefully..........bears and mountain lions, not for me

I agree Bear. I think I'll leave the trapping to the professionals.

Maine does allow black bear trapping...I might try that.
