Here is the problem.  Last 2 weeks of archery season weather has been overcast 28-34 oF, no snow.  I hunt a crossbow, it has a Tru-glo  red dot sight (1x, no magnification); has worked great for 15 years.  The best hunting is from sundown till 30 minutes later (close of legal hours).  With the low light level due to the overcast and my cataracts,  I can just make out deer as brown blobs at 15-25 yards, during those final hours.

I like a red dot aiming point.  But would like some more light.  Higher magnification would give me more light, but decrease my field of view.  I hunt close, often less than 10 yards. .. An eye operation might help, but I sort of would like to get my lifetime with these natural lenses.

Maybe a fixed 1.5 would work with a lighted x-hair.

Any thoughts?

Bear,
  Would new younger eyes help?
(just kidding)
I think all of us old timers can relate to your problem.
Take care.
