Sure it is a year away. But I enjoyed fishing, and plan to fish a day or two after MYGAWDS in 2019. No hard plan...Judith/smith/ Mo@ holten/ Madison ....what ever. could be trout/waleye, etc. If you have an interest let me know; no conmittment now, just interest.

I'll be going, I'll be at Tiber, week before camping and to Highwoods or Little Belts week after. I won't be staying in town. If I knew which direction, most of the shooting will be, I can move over in that area. We do a meet and eat in the AM before the hunt at one of the greezy spoons, yet to be determined . You could meet us there , you don't have to eat if you would rather not ,we tend to car pool from there to the killing grounds.  Get with us ,Most the time it's under 60 miles in any direction.

Huh, well in the 600 some-odd miles of montana I drove yesterday and today, I saw exactly ZERO sign of plague ridden varmint activity. That's Monarch to Eureka to Monarch to Billings and back to Monarch. I found an additional back up piece of Gopher property. Kinda out by my Pdog place, just a backup plan. Even in the snow I shot several today.  2 or 3 sq miles, all walk in.

You guys want to do a PD/gopher/coyote day up by Big Sandy? That's just south and east of Havre, 40 miles south of Ron in Chinook. It would have to be an early Morning start, about 80 miles up there maybe a bit father. On the IX ranch, close to 50 Sq. miles of state lands loaded with prairie dogs. You would all need the MT state lands permit $10 or Montana conservation License, Needed for a fishing license. If we are going to do it you and I (garou_22 ) need to get together And make a plan. I'm up for it If any of the others want to It could be great. BS has one restaurant I think but may not be open when we go through. still another 40 Miles of gravel after that. I may have my GD with me so that would cut me down to 2 people or 3 if there Very friendly. It would be nice to use only 2 trucks But normally Lizard brings his so we could have 3, IBD may have his big truck too, what's another 300 miles after coming in from WS right IBD. ANY WAY all that said the out of states need there Montana state use permits and will have to arrive some time before 4 AM Thursday. Let us know please. It's been dozen years, since I was up there last. State land used to have some roads open and camping was allowed, in some areas. If this is still true, state land starts dozen or so miles from Big Sandy. Being how I'm coming from north side, I might roll in there wed and sit up camp. Meeting you Thursday morning, maybe with coffee and something to eat. There used to be spot 27N14E SE 1/4 of section 17, within sight of road. That's right at start of big piece of state land. If it turns out, I can't camp out there, I'll call wed eve. I'll stay at Coal Banks BLM and meet up on Warick rd, at start of state lands, with coffee and eats. Either place is 80 miles closer and close enough to run back to for BBQ @ lunchtime. That looks like the right spot RobertMT. The road runs right along the state to the south then about a 1/4 mile it turns south and dips in to the large peace. I do believe a person can camp on state land with in 500 feet of the gate. 14 day limit maybe. I would check the regs first but I think that could be a definite possible plan . Anyone else with an idea? I hunted east of there, I ran into Big Sandy for fuel and came across it. I wasn't looking for PDs, at the time, but was large open country, that looked like it could hold more PDs, than deer. If I would've had antelope tag, there were several small bands, in area. Just told everyone in the family next years is in June so they can plan turbulence for then!...(I'll leave and not tell them!). Last year was Mom problems, update, she's home and a bit better. Updates to her house are made and she seems comfy...may or may not have to do with the new fuzzy slippers. This years is fulfilling the in sickness and in health end of a promise. With any luck she will be back up and running inside a month or so. Been a rough start for the year and I hope it's the last patch of it for a long while. I even broke down and got a new to me "16" F-150 to make the trip this year. Had 17k on it and a price I couldn't refuse. That coyote has a bit more snap then the ole' 5.4 did. lotsa room for toys and snoozing. Guess I'll be set for the upcoming anyway. You got to take of family first, gophers will be there another day. Unless things delay me until Wednesday, I plan on getting to Big Sandy on Tuesday and see how doable it looks, for Thursday. If I remember right, some of area is sandy/rocky, but most of it is bentonite and gumbo. Gumbo is a bit better than bentonite, to drive on, more sticky than slick. Packing now, tough. do I need snow camo? are we going to need snow shoes? rain gear? last year I shot more PDs than gopher, so got to decide more 22 ammo or 222 rounds. decisions, many linked to airline limits and rules. Rebuilt my tripod; now a sit down style for PDs and a stand-up model for gophers. It is getting close.

In the past you have gotten the $10 one then if you go on a fishing trip after you have it for the fishing license. The $5 one if for hikers, and alike. I think the $10 is the way to go. bear....good advice about ammo.....get yer .22 ammo out there....bricks of 500 are HEAVY! d4570.....got a SLUP on line after you posted the link a while back. Should be good to go with that. I thought you were going to put out the Word for MT to have nice warm, dry weather for the mygawds crew. Been running like a chicken with its head chopped off these past couple weeks - 72hrs on the clock this mon-fri alone - so I haven't been able to do much of anything prep wise.
