HUMMM ?!
I don't like the looks of the weather out my window.
We got another 10" of snow last few days, down here in town.
I'm guessing it will brake the snow fall record with well over 75"
SO FAR.Confused
Its being said we could hit 60* by Tuesday. We will see.
Are normal temp is around 50* this time of year it's been some time since I saw the thermometer in my back yard say 50*
I hate to say it BUT we Need two weeks of our famous winds to get the snow off and then DRY the roads. MUD= BAD DAY!
Foggy( means no wind) cold 18* full cloud cover right now, calling for more of the same all day. Forecast  warming with a chance of  light rain, till Thursday the maybe some more snow, Little wind  all week.

DANG!

I know Bear has snowshoes and wool bibs BUT the rest of you guys Keep in it mind.

I for one will be keeping my fingers crossed .

Now.
Food ! I was bragging about making a tail gate Lunch with Rabbit Burritos, well, I have one rabbit in the freezer...
Looks like it's going to have to be a Medley . I'll get with the boy and see what he has left, I'll toss in the one bunny and a half a crane and If he has something special like bear, sheep elk otherwise    It looks like deer.
I'll grind up some pork shoulder to help calm it down, but there is a plan "B".

GOOD NEWS!
More gophers then  have ever seen running around and the grass/wheat will be short so we , if we can get to them, can See them well.

I copied your pic and drew a crosshair on that guy.

Carring my snowshoes in a vehicle has not been lucky....it atracts mulie does, and it is tough to press the brake with the cedar snowshoes on both feet.

Can't wait!

Do the gophers have sex in the snow????

sure not APRIL weather like we would want. Still lots of snow here too but been near 40* past few days. However, snow in forecast here for coming weekend.
Better pack rain gear and MUD boots sounds like.
Checked out the DOT cams in MT along hwys east-west and still snow nearly everyone of them dated 4/8/18

Thanks for the MT weather updates....first thing about the pic from d.....No Visible Snow!
Now the question is..... how wet is the landscape from the recent snow melts?
Do the gophers need to be wearing life vests to stay afloat????Ermm

different tack now....will we be anywhere we will need state land use permits?  If so I want the cheap one that Bear gets!Big smile

Wrote an earlier message but can"t remember if it was posted. Anyway, tis spring in Montana and we will most likely come our of this.  Millions of gophers charging around, maybe won't have to put in hours of windshield time.  Any thoughts on our initial meeting, the Missouri River Inn (you can hear your ventricles slamming shut), Denny's (somewhat better.) 2 Kays, big meals and good, Karla is not difficult to look at, other options  and suggestions.  Tom

Well, the Missouri River Inn has never been crowded for one thing & As CB used to say..."the eye candy is pretty good at 2 Kays" but can be crowded. Never been impressed with any "Denny's".

They all are open early 'nuff for us I'd guess.
Would the direction of travel after breakfast be a significant reason to chose one or the others?

Friday is my bday & I'm eating my breakfast at 2ks at 7am on the dot.

I'm of the opinion that Winter needs to quit ducking around and go to sleep already! There are still 3 foot drifts in the yard. Got 6" fresh Thursday night, but it's melted off now. Been every third/fourth day and snow rolls in with 50° weather in between melting the fresh stuff off for the last three weeks.

On the "Flats" under 4000 feet it is nearly all melted .
North facing side of coulees there is some drifts left .
If the rain does not amount to much we will be ok I think.

Winter is still hitting us here on the shores of Lake Superior.....west of us (15 miles)they got 21.9"snow and east of us (30 miles) they got 15.9" snow (closed down USH 2 along the lake shore there) both had big winds which compounds things with drifting snow. We, in between these places only have about 8"-10" & no winds. Temps going into the mid 50's by end of week thru Tues next week. That will melt lots of this snow.

Packing boots and rain gear along with warm jacket too. Leave here on Sun. Dry roads would be a blessing.

Been spotty rain from Conrad, MT south this morning. North of Cut Bank, MT it was freezing rain turned snow this morning around 10:30 MDT.

So, Monday morning the area north of Cut Bank, MT was a super nasty rain/sleet/snow mix, howling winds, and sub freezing temps. Tuesday, the sun was out, all the snow that had fallen 24hrs prior melted, and temps between 32 & 40; wind still howling. And the grimy little plague packages were out in droves.

This is about 120miles north of where we typically go and the weather is usually more severe. So, I'm thinking we will still have a decent shoot given less snow, wind, etc for our usual live carnival gallery.

Ok  got my MT stamp from last year.  the 'good looking' dude $5 stamp.  (eat your heat out IBD).

Bags are packed.  since king 'might' bring a big gun, I put in ear muffs, hope TSA doesn't object.

Great, old retiree, getting  a week plus to play.  CAN'T WAIT.

King specifically mentioned bringing a 50BMG Bolt he built, so ear protection is a good idea. I know TSA don't give A, let alone two, shits about muffs. Full sized shampoo bottles, on the other hand, ya gonna get an inspection sticker, same with ammo. Also, if your case is locked, expect a page to unlock it for them.

Found out that if you have a layover more than two hours, your baggage gets kicked out on the baggage claim belt. If you don't go get it and re-check it, it won't be on your next leg with you.
