I just ordered this book for my niece, who will turn 12 this month: I've been "following" Eva on social media for a while now, and it is pretty good to see a positive female role model out there for young ladies, especially as they relate to the outdoors. Here is the link to the book on Amazon, if anyone is interested: http://a.co/4Pp8kRS" rel="nofollow - http://a.co/4Pp8kRS

I have a daughter that reads a lot. I'm thinking this would do her some good.

I have far different view, especially about how her dad, pimped out her to keep his show alive and how she went along for ride. Sorry if this offends their fans, but it's always bothered me when has beens of all stripes resort to this.
If she had stood up and said I won't be used, I would consider her a worth while role model.

Well, after following her public posts for a while, I'd be inclined to say that even if she started out as a "tag-along" for her dad (whom I had never heard of), she certainly took it, ran with it and made it her own. I know that a lot of young ladies who are into the outdoors really enjoy sharing their excitement with her, and she seems to enjoy hearing from them. These young women don't know or give a dang about all of the cynical attachments; they simply love to see a young woman, like them, doing what they love and being successful at it. As for Donald and Ivanka, I've got a feeling that in the end, she will have the potential to do more than her father did, and hope that she does. In both cases, I see it as young, professional, successful women taking the advantages they have and doing some good with it, and see no reason to hold the "sins of the father" against them. Then again, I've always been a "look on the bright side" kind of fellow ~

From the book description:
In Taking Aim, Eva tells a very personal story of choosing the less-traveled path to a rewarding life in outdoor pursuits like hunting and fishing. For her, as her millions of fans can attest, that has meant hunting as a way of harvesting food, caring deeply about conservation, sustainability and healthy eating, and getting closer to God in nature.... Eva takes readers along as she hunts caribou on the rugged Aleutian Islands, tracks a 1,500-pound bull moose across the unforgiving Yukon, and meets many other challenges of a life in the wild. Along the way we learn that hunting is about so much more than pulling a trigger. "My story is about discovering your dream," writes Eva. "It's about following your passion, mastering your skills, taking aim no matter who thinks you’re crazy…and then letting the arrow fly. If you’ve done all you can, I can tell you that you’re almost certain to hit your mark." |
I can't really argue with any of that ~ I'll call it a good purchase!
