Actually, the first battle was Not Ft Sumpter. he very
first battle was in Phillippi, now West Virginia. there was
a Confederate force there, and none other than Goerge B.
McClelland was sent there to run them out. the story is
very interesting. One noteable thing about Phillippi is,
that the only covered bridge on a US Route is there, on Rt
250. Having crossed this bridge several times, I know it to
be fact...........................Kingpin
