To the best of my memory, I was born right handed and right eyed.  A few years back diabetes gave me a sever loss of eyesight in my right eye.  After kicking the cat a hundred times, I started shooting lefty and left eyed.  This wasn't easy, actually my trigger finger was the big loss.  My left trigger finger, just didn't know how to squeeze.  Screwed up, yep.

Shift forward and laser surgery and I got some sight back.  Some days I could see OK out of my right eye, some days not.  I went to Africa this way.  Shooting my 416 RH action, right handed one day...left the next.  My guide never did figure it out, but over drinks one night he said "you have an unusual shooting style".

So I've trained back into shooting right handed most of the time.

Now I've got to have hand surgery, taking out the arthritic bones in both hands.  About 3 month per hand and a lot of cast time.  No fishing this year, I guess.

So I opted for the left hand first, if he screws that up I'll still have the right left to shoot.  I figure a Velcro on the cast and on the forearm and I can shoot, maybe.

But in my decision, I didn't factor in early hunting season when I'll not be using my right hand.  No archery, even with a crossbow.  So I'm going to be a lefty again (hopefully for only one hunting season).

So this might be a good time to start getting a dual gun.  So I start monitoring the "lefty forum".  Unfortunately, the states I hunt most don't allow auto rifles!

I like the Ruger #1 idea. I have never had one, but I have always liked them.
