Hey guys, i found out that Lyman makes a 195 grain round nose bullet mould. This is about what I am looking for. I found out the .303 Savage is actually fairly decent on elk, but if i went after elk, I would get a jacketed bullet because i dont know about the penetraition abilities of cast bullets. It says something about gas check, but i dont know much about bullet casting. I guess i will just have to buy all the stuff i need, including a manual, and just go by trial and error, and what i read on this site.

Try to stay with a flat nose design for hunting. Several  200 grain flat nose designs by different manufacturers. Virtually no differences between 195 and 200 grain cast in loading data, and you get a more effective bullet. A good cast bullet willl generally outpenetrate a jacketed softpoint.
