Hello everyone.  I'll take a moment to introduce myself.  I'll probably not be very active here.  But, looking through the forums, you have most of my interests covered.  So, I may be more active than I plan. 

Actually, I followed Ron (TasunkaWitko) here from another forum.  So, if I'm a pest, blame him.

I've lived in the same town (north-central Oklahoma) since my birth.  That's a half-century in the same zip code (with the exception of college years).  I'm a self-employed grading contractor, starting with my father at the age of twelve.  I did farm with my grandfather for about five years before I pulled a "boner" and he chose to exclude me.

I enjoy being active in civic work, spending time with my family, cooking, and other liesure activities.  Hunting, informal target shooting, reloading metallic cartridges and fishing are other activities I enjoy, but don't have as much time for as I used to. 

I probably have ten or eleven rods and reels from ultra light (spinning)to medium/heavy baitcasting and spinning rigs.  Not much fly fishing opportunities here in the flat land.

My hunting consists of mainly deer and coyote, but I do find time for pheasant and quail when the opportunity arises.  I'd love to go elk hunting sometime, but never have felt like I could justify the cost when I have college educations to fund.

I have several pistols ranging from .22's to .44 mag and .45 acp.  A couple of Remington shotguns ( 1100 20 ga. & 870 12 ga.) take care of my winged hunting.  My long guns consist of two T/C Omega .45's, a 10/22 Ruger, and three Number 1 Rugers (.223, .45-70, & 7x57).  I will usually have a .22-250 around, but don't have one presently.  I'm saving up to buy a stainless Tikka T3 in that caliber (hopefully this year).   My last .22-250 was a Remington VLS I bought for informal plate shooting at a local range.  It was too heavy for anything else and they closed the range. So, it left the safe.

My two sons have deer rifles as well.  One shoots a '98 Mauser (.257 Roberts) sporterized and customized by me and the local gunsmith.  My youngest son has a blued Tikka T3 in .25-06.  His rifle is the reason I want the .22-250 Tikka.

Yeah, this is kind of a Tikka sorta place.  I'm in the final stages of creating a Tikka 6.5 Swedish Mauser, left hand bolt.  That'll join the Tikka .338 Winchester magnum in my safe.

You might want to check out the CZ's too.  There's a coupla them in my safe also.  I do believe that you could probably find a CZ550 in .22-250 if ya looked a bit. 

Come to think of it, I've got a Ruger #1V in .220 Swift.  That's the cartridge the .22-250 wants to be when it grows up ya know.

I had a Swift--I couldn't afford the powder for the extra 20 fps.

Actually, the head space wasn't correct and I could only get about three reloads before the cases would seperate.  It didn't stay around long and the dies went with it.  It did shoot sweet, though.

My Swift's just the opposite.  I'm running one full grain under max load & getting 100 fps over the book velocity for max load.  Not having any trouble with case life either.  It's delivering 3960 fps with a 50 grain bullet on 45 grains of Vhita N160.

Glad to see you post dirt Guy.  You can't be all bad, you have an 870 and a Ruger #1 in 7x57, even if you are a friend of Ron's.

BBS is small but a pretty good place to hang out.  Most everyone is congeal, and you can get and give a lot of advise and opinions.

Only to excess....not really.  During college, I drank lots of Coors (Charter President of Uncle Adolph's 2000 Gallon Club) and other adult beverages.  That continued until I decided I was overdoing a bit.  In the late '80's until the mid-90's, I didn't drink at all.  I was State Chair for a substance abuse program--didn't want to look hypocritical.  I also got back involved in my local church and I was reminded of doing everything with passion--but in moderation.

Since then, I've done so in moderation.
