four stars **** Just finished read the book "Adrift" by Steven Callahan. http://www.amazon.com/Adrift-Seventy-Six-Days-Lost/dp/0345410157 - http://www.amazon.com/Adrift-Seventy-Six-Days-Lost/dp/034541 0157 A good short read, by a guy who was sailing singlehandedly across the south Atlantic in a contest. His homemade boat sunk and he spends 76 days adrift in a life raft. Very interesting, with lots of survival stuff. This is the longest any one has been shipwrecked & adrift and lived to tell about it. It is true and written in a diary style. Callahan still gives lectures sometime.
Id highly recommend it to and sailor or boater, for it's techniques and the "will to live". Nice relationship develops between hunter and prey (Dorado). |
