I was just sitting here reading quietly with the tv in the background soft. All of a sudden , HOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW, OW OW OW(or however you spell it). Must be just on the other side of our pines maybe 50 yards away at the most. Windows are all open, me sitting here in my boxers. (Nice thought, huh) A little surprising to say the least. A few chills also. AWESOME!

I can still hear some yipping down across the field on the other side of the highway. They seem to be coming closer to the house every night. This is the closest I've heard them yet. They got a turkey about 200 yards over a few nights back. That scream scared the crap out of me. Wish I could catch them with a light once just to get a good look.

 hey bk: i went to bed around nidnihgt here in michigan. had the window open and they were in my back yard also. they were out there for about an hour befor they moved on. it seems like the go through in cycles. you might only hear them for 3 nights then they are gone. then when you think they have moved on they are back.

BKC;

Is there anything preventing you from taking them as a varmint?  Just wondering.  I've got a rifle that I hope turns into the primary coyote gun coming back from the smith any day now.  I'll have to take it to the range & get a read on what it likes & all that.  But comes the day that it'll get put to the test on 'yotes.

If there close to the house use a cat distress call and they'll come a runnin.  I Don't like trimmin them down lest there doing damage to critters, or game but they will keep the game out of the yard for ya.

I got the perfect yote rifle. A Winchester 94! The yotes have been going after rabbits, my main quarry, so i may have to take my all weather 94 out and shoot some of the bastards. It was a pretty easy winter on the rabbits, and on the yotes, so i am going to try and give the rabbits a little more in their favor against the yotes. Versus me on the other hand, watch out you rabbits.

I just figured out what i am going to spend my first paycheck on. I am going to order on of those jackalope mounts from cabelas. That, next to my boar head, should scare the sh*t out of my friends. One of my friends is soo stupid, he called the boar a moose! Can you believe that shear stupidity?

CB,

No, yotes are open year round, 'cept dear season I think. I've got a .223 set up as a nice varmint rig and would feel comfortable taking a 350 yard shot. But, they are posing no threats right now and I don't mind having them around. I might go out with a spot light and camera some night and see if I can catch one near the house. Would be a nice pic to be looking from out and seeing the yote and the house in the pic! During a day I can see squirrels on the porch, crows on the trees poopin' on the house, groundhogs running across the yard, deer bedding down 5 yards behind the house, and still hear the yotes all night. Oh yeah, I forgot the rabbbits, turkeys, quail, pheasants, hmm the neighbor has peacocks. And all without leaving home. So what do people get living in town?

We get dogs that just bark and bark all the time and we have squirrels that eat our garbage.

I did live in town for a short period. Was rather secluded. Accross the street from a stagnant canal and a large embankment hill up behind. I enjoyed watching the squirrels and mosquitos playing. Some rattle snakes too! I'm still very glad I moved back out here though.

I cant wait until i move back out of town. I miss actually having a yard. Pretty soon though, we will be out of this house. Or we might get a yard by buying a neighbor's house and tearing it down.
