below is an update that we received from gene in iraq. i will post more as they arrive on this thread. keep up the good work, ghozt!

Hi fellas.I just got net set up in my hooch so I can check in.I have to head south for four days tomorrow again on a long run but will try to catch up tonight.I am attaching a few pics for you fellas.
I will say this about Iraq guys..It is truly the most dangerous place on earth.f***ing IED`s always here and there along with rpg and small arms ambushes,attacks..and mortars..ugg

Getting ready in the motor pool for a escort that night.Pic is with my M-4 and the EOTech MarkV loaned me before I left.It sure has come in handy as I turn it on low power before we pull out the wire and leave it in the rack beside me just in case I have a malfunction with my 50 cal and for use on overpasses.Every Joe that has looked at my EOTech wants one..

I zeroed mine and it is deadly assed accurate.

I belong to a batt from the 101st Airborne also.We are attached as a mixed unit.We are a light infantry company with the rest of my batt down south on a different mission.I don`t wear the 101st as my combat patch but I probably will retire my 1st AD patch from GW1 and wear the 101st when I get home.

Anyways,I appreciate all you guys have done for me with the binos,the eotech,the care packages and such.Havea good one guys.

Time to get my game face on..

Thanks SteelyEyes.I appreciate that man.It means a lot to all of us here to know you guys back home support us over here..
This is a pic guys of the tire our ASV had blown out a few nights back.We had to stop on the FOB where garou22 is and replace the tire.The brake lines were shredded also so we hooked it up to our HEMMIT wrecker and drug it on home with us.The crew got tosssed around a little but was unhurt.This was a small ied that luckily didn`t go off underneath em.

One more ,this one of me as I let our driver get some gun time and I took over driving for a bit.Stopped on the msr waiting on broke down KBR truck to get recovered.

Hey guys,sorry I am absent so much.We have folks on leave for r&r so I am running back to back missions.Its keeping me super busy.I just rolled in this morning from an all niter and got home about 7 am.
Here is a pic from tonite as I was waiting for KBR to unload their damned trucks.Its in my turret with my little SAW,behind me.I have a mount on the back of my turret where I mount theSAW incase I take fire from behind.I can simply turn,flip the safety and give out a little 200 round drum of 5.56 to anyone that wants to try me..
haha,yall be safe I will write again when I can.My leave time is approaching and I`m happy as can be about it..Even if its only two weeks out of this s***ty country. I`ll be back home in Texas with my family and friends for a break

I got into a scrap last night not far on Tampa headed towards Speicher after you make the turn....near the market.Ied blast followed by a complex attack with small arms,Haji Lost :wink:

Doesn`t pay to f*** with Texans armed with 240`s and M2`S with thermal sights,haha..

.........I still have my M4 ,MY 240 and my 50 for my last missions..Miss my SAW and 12 gauge though...I always felt more comfortable carrying enough weaaponry for any situation...but its a step towards goin home..I`ll try to check in when I can fellas..right now all is hectic..training replacements and most of em are slick sleeved cherries who have never been anywhere/.. :rolleyes:

so we are busy...trying to teach em enough in a short period of time to give them a fighting chance at being successful at their mission and not losing too many men..
