I have been wondering about these so called scopes, that have distance compensator's built into them for correction of hold over and windage as well.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what is a so called good scope for long range hunting, that would have such a system built into them and how is their dependability.

Well after receiving my NEW Leupold VX-L Long Range 4.5-14X56 last week I can truthfully say that this is the ticket !

Course,... your gonna' have to pay a hefty sum to own one.

I'm waiting on my 30MM set of rings so I can mount it up to the 7 Mag but just by eyeballin' the thing  it's defiantly going to be a keeper. I purchased the Varmint Reticle for mine, and they also offer a Boone & Crockett  which uses a Mil-dot type system for distance and windage (up to 20mph cross winds).

Now when the Hell are those rings gonna' get here???

6 bits;

I don't know about other types of reticle, but I really like the mil-dot system.  I first started using it when gopher shooting with a .22lr & got used to what it could do for me in that type of hunting.  I now have several scopes with that system in place & probably will aquire more.
