D4570: I remember the first time I "used" satellite photos to aid my Prairie Doggin. It was about 30 years ago and I was "bribing" my way onto an Indian Resrvation to Hunt every year back then. I was living in Seattle at the time and it was a long drive to this high plains Reservation. I was "paying up" one spring when I noticed an odd and huge photo in this Indian Chiefs office. He gladly showed the set of photos to me and explained it was a series of sattelite photos of their lands - they had been given to him by the US Govmint. I could easily distinguish "dog towns" with their tiny white dots (mounds) and the areas of no grass around them! I asked if I could take some notes and make a drawing for myself of the various dog towns. He was happy to let me do so. From the photos I could recognize roads and prairie homes and I made special note of the "remote" towns. I used my notes and drawings to find several "virgin" (un-Hunted) Dog Towns and I was in PD Heaven for several years after that. Tragically the plague ended my exclusive Hunting "rights" in that area. The Dogs virtually all plagued out. Yes modern technology is an incredible thing. Some months back I was "playing" on the computer and I went "down" from the sattelite photo and down some more and down some more and then the sattelite photo once I was at ground level turned to a horizontal view and in 360 degrees once there. I could actually make out my sons car - its license number AND the college team logo of my sons hat in the rear window ledge of his car! And this was in a city 700 miles away from my computer monitor! I doubt though that the ground level 360 degree cameras have yet to make it to the roads in Prairie Dog country. Have a good season. Hold inot the wind VarmintGuy
