Presently planning a muley hunt (archery) in Wyoming this Sept.  I'd like to shoot some dogs, if I get lucky (skill???...LOL) and fill my tag early.  I plan to stay at least a week in the Buffalo/Sheridan area.  If my heart is up to it I plan to walk a small (very small) piece of the Bozeman trail.  Just a history freak I guess.

Can you shoot P dogs on BLM land in Wyoming?  Does the Wind River reservation have any open areas?  there use to be a site that had P dog towns listed by state with GPS co-ordinates...anybody have that site or other locations.

I'd like to find at least one location prior to arriving there.  I usually ask ranvhers/gass station folks and in resturants for ranch locations.

Thanks for the help.

Bear,

Sorry I missed this post when it was new. I live less than 70 miles from Buffalo. Lots of prairie dog towns close by. I would really like to take you shooting at my favorite prairie dog town. (I have a couple of favorites.) Just let me know when.

Wing;

I'll probably take my daughter down to Greeley for the UNC orientation, but don't know the date yet.  Since I'll be down that way, I'm going to pick up the bike & head north.  P-dogs should be up & frisky in June right?  All I'll have to do is find some room in the familymobile for a coupla .22's & ammo.  We may develop car trouble in the Gyrolette area.

Dan and 900f,

You both are more than welcome. Most any sunny day the little targets are out. They are over-running big areas of the Thunder Basin National Grassland. We need help thinning them out.

That offer for the beer still stands.

Good luck with the pdogs.  Just a note, a portion of the Grasslands is closed to dog shooting.

On another note, don't get too close, they can be real killers.

Please excuse the ugly mug.

Thanks mtmiller,

The place I go is north of the ferret area. I think their are enough prairie dogs to shoot and feed the ferrets but I guess they are afraid people will shoot ferrets.

You might think about getting that hand looked at. I do kinda like the way you got him by the neck though.
