   2006 SPRING TURKEY SEASON OPENS SOON

The spring turkey-hunting season will begin April 8 and end May 21.

During the spring season only shotguns and long, recurve or compound 

bow and arrow may be used. Resident hunters must have the upland 

game bird, conservation, hunter access enhancement and turkey licenses 

to legally hunt turkey in the spring or fall.

The harvest limit is two turkeys for each hunter per hunting year.

Hunters can purchase two turkey licenses and harvest two gobblers in the 

spring, at least one of which must be taken in FWP Region 7. Hunters who 

harvest two gobblers in the spring cannot hunt turkeys in the fall.

Hunters are reminded to be careful because spring turkey hunters 

generally wear camouflage clothing. The spring turkey regulations include 

safety tips in a section titled "Defensive Turkey Hunting Tactics."
