    Todays range report on the 160 grain accubond noslers with my 7mmSTW is as follows. I fired two slightly different loads, with the nosler and one outstanding 3 shot group with the sierra 160 grain bthp game king. All loads were 79 grains of RL-25.   The first was from a remington case fired many times with a federal mag primer. the avarage velocity was 3196 fps and a 100 yard group was .60 inches. At 200, I had 2 bullets touching, center to center was .25 inches ,but I pulled one about 2 inches left.

 Then I shot with  new winchester winchester brass and a federal mag gold medal primmer. velocity was 3225 fps I fired 2 200 yard groups. One at 1.25 inches and the other was 2 rounds at an inch with a flyer an inch and a half high. I pulled that one I think.

The last group I fired was with the sierra bullet and at 200 yards and It gave me a real nice .65 inches. The old remington brass showed no preasure signs but the Gold metal primers were flattend in the Winchester brass.

   I am going to try the sierra bullet some more since I have a lot on hand but I might go down a half grain of powder. It was about 80degrees out I was about 1000 feet of elevation.

TJ;

Nice shootin'.   It would be interesting to see what some of the supposed non-premium bullets will do in your gun.  My thoughts always run to the idea of; 'If I can put it where I want to, why pay ridiculous prices'?

The only way you'll ever know is to shoot some of the popular "cheap bullets" thru your 7MM. I've shot some 3/8" groups with my 308 and 150 grain core-lokt bullets. The gun does shoot rather well, it will shoot Sierra 168 into less than a .250 most of the time. The rifle is bedded and has a 2 OZ trigger

     The sierra bullets I shot are not expensive at all. and the accubonds are a little steep but they cost a lotl less then Partitions.

     DFC ! wanted to let you know you were right on  awhile back on my scope shimming post. After alot of fussing and screwing around, I came up with the Idea to run the scope to the max elevation, then count the clicks back to the middle, no more shims needed. Buy the way i like that .308 !

      Back to the stw  ! I am loading up 25 more rounds with the sierra hp. I am wondering if the once fired casses will out shoot the brand new ones. I like premium bullets when I am pushing high velocity. I shoot hornady speer & sierra in my 308 30,06 and 7mm08.  And for deer hunting i will mabye shoot the sierra anyway cause it is a tougher bullet than the standard soft point.   ...tj3006
