Went trap shooting today and the topic of reloading came up. One of the guys had just opened a new bag of Diamond brand shot. Was supposed to be 7 1/2 shot. Had 4 or 5 different sizes in the bag. Looked like all the way from 9s to 6s. Some was hardened and some wasn't. A lot of it had flat sides and wouldn't roll on a table even when we tipped it. You could start it rolling and then it would find the flat spot again and just sit there. Almost seemed like reclaimed unsorted stuff. A bunch of the guys had gotten together and ordered a big batch from a distributor and this was part of that lot. He was the only one to try his so far. All were going home to check their's. Anybody else ever run into this? RD

No, never have. I purchase Win shot from www.grafs.com, a neighbor, and not had this problem. I've experimented with duplex type loads on my own, but I've not had anything come from the bag in such a manner.

It could be relclaimed shot or it could be something an employee thought was "cute" and loaded in a bag and set in a box for shipment.  You know, the stuff that hits the floor. It can happen! I have worked for a number of years in a ouple of different manufacturing environments and you'd be amazed at what an employee will put in a bag, carton, etc.

I'd bet it is bootleg shot, probably imported.  I'd send the bag along with some of the shot to Diamond.

It may have been a used empty bag that was refilled by the distributor.  Or it may have been printer by the counterfeiter.

The bag should be important to Diamond to figure out what the real source was.

I'd think they would want to know the purchase source, distributor etc.

I once purchased low cost shot in bulk, it was from China and looked like what you described.
