This is a good course for fly fishermen to take to see exactly what small organisms fish feed on also you study bodies of water from high to zero producers.

I always liked the life of stone flies, fantastic.

What course are you recommending?  do you have a site for a specific course of study?

Aquatic biology and limnology were pretty fun back in the day.

Nowadays, environmental science folks like myself are putting that to use for water quality assessment.  Specifically, we look at benthic macroinvertebrates.

Izaak Walton league started a "Save Our Streams" program in which fisherman noted that certain bugs only lived in certain water quality.  Fast forward a few decades and it is now a primary field assessment tool.

For fisherman, I'd say anything in that realm would be good knowledge to pack along.

Limnology was one of the courses I took at the Univ of AZ in the early 60's while getting my BS in wildlife mgt, it was taught by the fisheries biologist Dr William Mc Connell who left AZ & went to CO to teach.I spoke to a widlife biologist at the Little Hills Research Station of the CO Dept of Game west of Meeker who knew McConnell.I still have my book written by Rutner which was translated from German into British english. We had engineering  grad students taking the course as they were planning to work in water quality & part of their research was in oxygenated sewage lagoons using lemna ,microrganisms, fish & algae to clean the water,we visited these sites on our field trips.I worked for Bill McConnell as a student aid coating stock tanks with epoxy paint for some  telapia research ,got me out of class touring all over S AZ checking out streams, ponds, etc for aquatic life & water quality.
