A year or so ago I robbed the scope from my .270 and put it on another rifle. I hate the thought of having a rifle that's not ready to go at any time so I'm looking for a scope to put back on it.

I'm looking at lower end scopes like the Leupold VX-1 or the Burris Full Field. I've always been a Leupold fan but I've heard pretty good things about Burris.

What are your thoughts?
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Well, I did a little shopping around and found that the VX-1 has been discontinued and replaced with the VX-Freedom. The Fullfield II has been discontinued but several places have them in stock still.

The Freedom does look like a better scope but the Fullfield is a lot cheaper. Like Freedom on sale $299 and Fullfield on sale $119.

What are your thoughts with this update?

I don't think you can go wrong with any Leopold scope.
I have two Burris, there good scopes and are about a $100 cheaper them most scopes If you go with Burris plan to spend the same $$ but you ma be able to step up higher on the scope ladder.
the two I have I like but the parallax is seconds plain I think, which ever one make the hash marks different depending on the power you use.

I'll check out Sightron. I've never had one but am willing to look at anything.

On low end Bushnell is very good.  But low $$.

Spent some time looking at Vrtex (made in China) Crossfire, looked good.

If you want a ruffed scope with a guarantee, then Leupold is it.

I have a Vortex  Crossfire that I bought on sale a few years ago and put on the .308 that I was asking about a while back.

It's a decent scope so far. Pretty clear and tracks good. If I remember right it was around $100. Definitely worth it.
