I got back home yesterday and couldn't wait to try out the new gun. By the time I got around to it the daylight was almost gone so I only got 6 shots off. All 6 went into a Pesi can at 7 paces. Today I placed a target out at the same 7 paces and tried again. I shot ten rounds into the target standing with a two hand grip. All of them went into the orange. That was good but boring. The next five I sped-up the pace. Well two went in the orange and three just outside. The last round failed to eject but at this point I'll blame that on a limp wristed hold. The group size for that 15 was approx. 3 1/4" with Rem. 95gr FMJ's. The next group I fired were Speer Gold Dot 90's. I only shot 8 of those but could tell they were grouping alot tighter and could also tell they were hotter. That group was 1 1/4". My first impressions are very favorable. Not enough testing for sure but a good start. The P3AT didn't recoil as bad as I thought it would but owning a 500 S&W has probably skewed my perception of what "bad" is. I think I've found my new carry gun. DD Edited by deaddog |

the KTOG is a pretty neat place, lots of info. I carry a P11 from time to time, and Mrs. Triggerguard carries a P-32. The P-32 shoots about as well as your .380. KTs are no frills guns that work, for the most part.

Had a friend of mine try the Kel Tec out about a week ago. I'd been telling him how good it shot so when he started spraying with it I blamed him and he blamed the gun. Awhile later I was cleaning the gun and found a crack in the plastic grip. I went on the KTOG website and they had a 800# to call the factory. They sent me a new grip/frame in about 3 days and a self addressed envelope to send the old one back in. Not bad customer service but I have lost a little confidence in it. I had less than a 100 rounds through it when it cracked. You never hear of a Glock doing that. They say they had a bad batch of grips go through. Yikes... DD |

It looks like a good shooter and I can't blame you for the confidence deal. I have been looking at the possibility of owning a .380 too. Over the years, I have seen and shot a lot of them. The best one that really stood out is the SIG, either in the P230 or P232, followed closely by the Walther PPK. The P230 is no longer made but there are still some at shows. I even tried the Kel Tec and liked it. So, I am still on a hunt for a .380, but not too hard........................Kingpin

Nice shooting... seems to be a nice little pistol... My only experience with the smaller pocket guns in semi-auto has been the Walther PP & PPK series. We usually see them in .32ACP up here in the North. Occasionally, .380's appear but not too often. I just picked up a WWII vintage Walther PP in .32ACP. Well used but not abused. Lots of finish gone but still mechanically 100% with a nice bore.
'Course I'm on the hunt for a cherry Walther PPK to go along with it, too. I've had a few over the years. Back in the late 1980's the West German police gave up their PPK's for 9mm handguns. A lot of the PPK's were imported into Canada. Those that came in usually sold for around $150 Canadian [$130 US] in the box with papers & spare magazine. They can still be had in around $300 Cdn [$260 US]. You just have to find someone who will part with it. But I've always loved their classic lines & found them to be reliable little pocket autos...
Regards, Marcus.

No, it's not Nazi marked. Would've been a lot more than the $250 I paid for it had it been so marked... |

Just re-reading my post above... I musta had a brain-fart... in addition to the Walther PP & PPK series of pocket autos I've also owned a Colt 1903 pocket .32ACP, a minty WWII vintage Browning 1910 in .32 ACP and a Beretta Model 70 in .32 ACP. All were quite servicable little pistols. I've also had some pocket autos in .22... They are fun.
Regards, Marcus.
