Afternoon Fellas >> Ever since I bought my IAI Javelina 10mm Auto back in 2003, I've been smitten by these OOP IAI / AMT semi-auto's. Pleased with the quality and dependability, I've been on the look-out for more at a decent price in good shape. What became quickly apparent in this search is the fact that these handguns are in fairly high demand. What cost me $335 back in '03 at a local shop now run a $600 - $800 premium on the auction market. Snagged my AMT Auto Mag V .50 AE last year at said premium but rationalized the purchase with the fact that it was far cheaper then the other option ... Magnum Research's Desert Eagle. With that purchase, there was one more jewel I needed to get into my posession. An Auto Mag IV .45 Winchester Magnum. Took care of that yersterday afternoon. Here's one of the pic's supplied by the seller. More will come when the gun's in hand :
![]() Of interest to me is the fact that it's an "IAI" Auto Mag. I was under the impression that the only IAI Auto Mag IV's were chambered in 10MM Auto and only when taken over by AMT did they add the .45 Winchester Magnum as a IV option. Regardless of labeling, it's a spitting image of my AMT .50 AE. I mean, exact, 'cept for the laser etched markings, of course. The gun looks to be in beautiful shape. Lots of pics were supplied and it looks very clean. We shall see. Thinking about loading this one with the 250 gr. Speer Gold Dot and seeing how close to 1400 fps it'll safely get. Should make a pretty serious thumper. Along the lines of a .44 RemMag on a semi-auto platform ... not bad. Looks like it runs best with H110. Got that going in lots of other things now so that's convenient. Anyway, VERY pleased with this purchase and excited to start working with it. Now if I can just manufacture the time to do it |

Korey; If you're interested in these, and it appears you are, also check out the Parker, and Wyoming Arms. I'm given to understand that they are the same guns as the AMT's, produced after AMT went under. In other words, same machinery, different owners. 900F |

thanks for the info. That WA site looks good with parts and such. Been kinda putting together a little manufacturers paper-trail of my own for these handguns. In efforts to try and identify manufacturing dates for whatever I happen to pick up. From the original Auto Mags out of Irwindale, CA (IAI), it looks like the rights to the AMT Auto Mag moniker currently rests with a High Standards Manufacturing Company out of Houston. This must have happened fairly recently, as their web site still has their Auto Mag page under construction. They do list prices for the AMII but list prices for the AMIII (.30 Carbine) & AMIV (.45 WinMag) are TBA. They look to be quite spendy. Doesn't look like they chose to continue the AMV (.50AE). Happy to get mine when I did, I guess. Wish they had some pics so I could compare what they're offering and calling AMT AutoMag's with past stuff. I guess in time. Anyway, thanks for the WM site. >> korey |

With all the excitement of our varminting trips over the last couple days, I kinda forgot about this little bugger. Crazy. It showed up yesterday. Kirby saw nothing that would dispute the sellers belief that this handgun has not been fired. Probably as valuable now as it'll ever be. We joked about oiling it up and storing it away for collector sake. Yeah, right !!! This one's getting shot :
I've got 500 cases coming in from Starline sometime and the rest being delivered from Kirby. Can't find a shred of factory ammo anywhere here so I sit, wait and fondle (the gun) ;o) . I've got the 250 gr. Speer Gold Dot coming and all that I've seen, with regards to data, suggest 1400 fps with the H110 that I plan on using. That's from a 5" barrel, typical of the LAR's. This one's a full 6 1/2". And unlike the barrel on my .50 AE, it's NOT ported. Excited to see what that extra 1 1/2" offers. So, here's the IAI/AMT line-up to date :
(l) Javalina 10mm Auto (m) AutoMag IV .45 WinMag (r) AutoMag V .50 AE Not a bad tri-fecta. Later. >> klallen |

Yup, TIKKA. Have considered an AutoMag II in .22 mag but just haven't made the jump yet. Next up, will be an AutoMag III. I see them fairly regularly in .30 Carbine but would rather have one in 9mm Win Mag (that one I've only see once). Chat with ya later. >> korey

Glad to see ya finally got the gun home Korey. Looks real good.....heck, all three do. Good thing you've got all that brass on the way, as 45 Win Mag ammo does seem pretty hard to find these days....well, I never see any on store shelves. If there is any to be found it's probably overpriced. Tikka, a buddy of mine has the 22mag and it's a fun little gun. He was having trouble with it cycling properly and I tried some Gunslick graphite on the rails...it started to shoot just fine. Loud little gun for sure. |
