Well you all know we have a 6mm rem and a 7x57, so how about a 22 on that case? I have found Information on it, it's a little faster than a 220 and can use the new longer bullets. Shaw has a barrel offering. My 22/250 is great and an AI version would be even better. But if I was going to get a new barrel why not a new chambering?Dancing

The longer bullets depend upon the twist rate, more than velocity.

The 7x5 case has about 10% more capacity than the 6mm Le Navy, the cartridge that the Swift is based upon.  Seems like diminishing returns to burn 10% more powder and only get an extra 150 fps.  At 4000fps the Swift is said to be a barrel burner.  You shoot a lot.

Seems you need a 222 R.  superbly accurate; I think it still hold the record for most accurate cartridge!  If would fit a lot of your hunting needs.

Interesting article on 9.3x57

I like the Norma Vulcan bullets in my 8x57 (black bear rifle) and in the 9,3x62.

358 Norma, a nice large cartridge.  It never caught on here as it was eclipsed by the 338 mag.  It is between the 35 whelen and the 375H&H.

While it would be perfect for big bears and moose, US hunters would prefer the 338 mag as less kick or go to the top with a 375 H&H.  Norma couldn't sell it in Europe as folks there might want to go to Africa some day, and a few countries have a 9.3 or larger bore limit.

Americans never seemed to like the 35 cal rifles.  Only the 35 rem in lever guns caught on.  the 350 rem mag, 358, 35 Wehlen, 356  all had a decent purpose, but few lived long.

We have two 35 Rem marlin levr guns in the family, both are deer killers out to 200 yards, which is a looong shot in the east.

I read an article one time about overbore. If I remember right it was refering to not having enough barrel lenght to burn all the powder. I would think that a 22X57 would be overbore.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Full potential would probably need a 30+ inch barrel for sure.
