I was stumbling around the local gun shop and noticed they had a bunch of Ruger Americans chambered in .308. Evidently they got a good price on a lot of them. They had a really good price on them. I couldn't pass it up.
Now, I don't know what to do with it. I already have a .308 that I like. I thought I could use it in a future trade but I always regret letting a gun go. I'm sure I'll keep it but I'm not sure what to use it for. Any suggestions?

Well, if it has a plastic stock, and the other a walnut....then this becomes the rainy day rifle.
Also, you could develope loads, scope, sight-in with one with 125 gr bullets and the other with 165 gr. that would give you two rifles.

Great ideas guys.
I like the idea of rebarreling it but I think I want to see how good I can get it to shoot as it is for now. I think I will get some light weight bullets and see what I can work up. This could be a prairie dog/ coyote gun. 7mm/08 has had my attention for a long time. That might be interesting with light bullets.

I have had a Ruger American LH in .223 Rem for few yrs now. Back up gun for p'dogs. Nice gun with "plastic" stock & their version of the "accu-trigger". Adequate trigger but not great. The .338 Federal is a good idea if you want a bit of upgrade from standard .308 Winchester round.
