Clap
Break in is a bitch. The Ruger rebarrel 7mm X 57 AI.
Shooting paper is bad but just to pull the trigger man that is torture.
Shoot, clean, shoot clean, then shoot twice and clean and so on, twenty times.
I was doing double duty, break in and fire form.
And even tipple duty, getting on paper and zero.
I shot the required 20 and clean and zero at 100 yards.
Then I shot 2, 4 shot groups. 4 with Hornady 139 soft tips and 4 with Nosler 140 tipped, both Factory loads.

The 139s claim to be 2680 fps and the 140s 2700.
Could be I did not check.
The 139s did OK slightly over an inch.
The 140s did very well under an inch and only two holes, that could be the shooter. I think if my targets had a center + both target would be better.
We will "shoot" for about the same speed when we start loading. We will try a few different powders and start with 140 SST bullets and 140 Barnes ttsx.
It is a 1x8 twist so we can go all the way to 175 if she wants at some point. I think 140s will be the sweep spot for her. Her 6.5 Grendel Loves 123 sst's at about the same speed. Her "new" gun is a 2 inch longer barrel (22") and 1.6 pounds heaver.
It also holds one less shells with 4+1 the howa is 5+1 I think.

It's showing some real potential. I agree with you on the 140's. They will perform well on any game animal and should have a little less recoil so it will be easier for Annie to shoot.

I agree on barrel break in. I think I have only made it through the whole process one time.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

140s are my go-to for non-magnum 7mms. 284, 7mm08, 280 and 7X57 all love them.
