Colt 22 Range/Ammo Test

   Well, you guys got me self-conscious about my Colt Trooper Marksman 22 LR pistol after the posts about the best rimfire ammunition.   So, I managed to find a few sunny hours to go out and do some shooting with it.
The Pistol:  Colt Trooper Marksman II 22 Long rifle, 8 inch barrel, 6 shot, with Weaver Mounts and a Weaver 1-4X scope shooting at 20 measured yards
The Ammo:  CCI mini-mag hollow points vs. Remington Gold Bullet solid point
The Results: (2) six-shot groups of CCI Mini Mag ammo, (2) six-shot groups of Remington ammo, 

The target was posted on the range in the position you see it here.  I was shooting off the bench in a sand bagged Caldwell's rest and rear sandbag.  Firing was done at 4X at 20 yards.  In Column one, you see the results of the CCI - not too bad around 1.5 inches max.  In column two you see the results of the Remington - fair but much more open group around 2 inches.  In column three you see the final CCI testing and near end sight in.  Note that in the bottom right hand target there was a near one-holer 4-shot group!  I'm impressed and believe I'll be sticking with the CCI's.  Just thought I'd share.  And yes I did get a final sight-in to put me center mass but that's another story!  
So for this gun at this range under these conditions with me behind the trigger, I'll be packing the CCI mini-mags over the Remington Gold Bullets it appears.

	Mountaineer, it goes to show the importance of trying various ammo in a 22lr. Now you're ready for some squirrel hunting. Nice pistol too. I've always liked the Troopers.
	Somebody better call the Secret Service. Let 'em know there's an illegal alien in the White House...and it ain't the cook!!
