Tikka, the Model 13 is a K frame. To see if it's a square or round butt take the grips off. The bottom of the gripframe will either be "squared" at the edges (square frame), or "curved" (round frame).

Fella's; Since Gunrunner got to it before I did, here's a Smith question for the site. Can you identify all the Smith I-frame models? 900F |

As the letter implies the "I" was a frame smaller than the J-frame. Practically the J frame was designed for 38 special cartridges. But it can be made for small diameter shells, including 32 and 22. The I-frame was for 32 caliber rounds, 32 S&W. It predated the J-frame. It was the frame of the early 32 cal Hand Ejector models. I think these were popular small carry guns for city folks in the late 1890s. Sort of a quality Satruday night special, long prior to the 1968 Gun Control Law. As a kid in the 1950s reading everything, I seem to remember lots of ads (kleins out of Chicago) for those old 32 HE models selling for $10 or less. If I'd have had the money (I didn't) and the smarts (I didn't) sould have bought me a dozen of 'em. BEAR |
