yeah, i got the compact 3-9x33 on my '300 whizzum'. i haven't had a chance to really put the combination thru its paces yet... but, i am quite impressed w/ the scope so far. it is capable of picking 257 caliber bullet holes up at 100 yards.
believe me, i'll be doing tons more shooting and limit pushing... i'll let you know how good the compact is soon.
if you do go w/ the 2-7x28, be sure to do your homework for a mounting system. these small objective scopes can be a bear sometimes to get the right set up (ring height might be high, or hole spacing on mounts may be difficult to get right).
go thru my post and check out the way the rings are sitting on my scope. the rings are medium leupolds. low would've worked, but i really liked those rings (for a 2-7x28, you'll want lows for sure, as long as the bolt handle clears). anyway, the spacing between the rings is not optimal... but, between winchester's goofy hole spacing, the short scope, and leupold's base, there weren't a lot of options.
the nice things about the compacts is they are so light. the bad thing is so many mounts are heavy or extremely heavy. talley makes a dandy mounting system; the bases are incorporated into the rings (how's that for strength?), and both rings w/ screws weigh in at 2.2 ounces (at least mine did). each leupold ring, for instance, weighs 2 ounces... anyway, drawback to the talleys is that their lows are still too high.
anyway, i can go on much more about this, but i'll stop here. my point is to do your homework.
