Normally I don't like to shear secret recipes but!! Too good not to. The problem with hunting turkeys is once and a wail you screw up and get one then what? There not like a ruff grouse there 15 pounds of ruff grouse YUK!!! We have had them smoked and they come out very good, we hate them backed or fried. SO we tried making soup. It was great. We took off the breast meat ( the only part you can eat ) and put it in the pot and browned it fast and hot then put the back ( bones) and breast in 2 quarts water a medium sweet potato and a small acorn squash both peeled and cubed. Chop a large onion, and two cloves fresh garlic and some celery. Boil it till the sweet potato and squash mush up and breast brakes up easily.Get rid of the bones. Separately cook some egg noodles . Put a helping of noodles in the bottom of your bowl and ladle the soup over them. It makes a semi thick , sweetish, soup that will stick to your bones. If you like pepper grind a bunch in to your bowl before you eat it. |
