Chances are that it will be more of a job to replace them
than you realise. The rear disc brake caliper most likely
needs a special tool in order to compress the caliper.

Case in point: the 2008 Ford Taurus.

It sucks to learn this on a Sunday in Small-Town Montana,
so learn from my mistake!

Side note: If you recruit help with any mechanicin' that
is more complicated than an oil change, don't give them
the beer until AFTER the job is done. Don't ask me how I
know.

Taz;

STOP BUYING FORD PRODUCTS. It's like beating your head
against the wall, it feels so good when you stop.

However, on point B, you are absolutely correct.

LOL - yep! Things went much easier today, due to the lack of barley-pop, and also thanks to this little devil:

It doesn't look like much, but it wiped away yesterday's 5 hours of frustration and cussing in about about 3 minutes!

For those of you with a newer vehicle, this little piece of $#!t is an absolute necessity in order to work on rear disc brakes where the parking brake
is integrated with the brake caliper piston. It works best when used with a speed wrench (kind of like a miniature hand-turned ice auger), but I think
it can also be used with a 3/8-inch socket wrench, in a pinch.

In any case, the job is pretty much done now, and we're all back together. The brakes need to be bled better, but that can wait until tomorrow. Right
now, it is time for a beer...or two....or....

AutoZone loads those out free.

The cube model you bought will fit just about all us or
foreign (spiral/turning) brake calipers. So it will now
last you many vehicles!!!

Bleeding can s&^k also.

I will never ever...ever....ever....get into the Wild Turkey
101 before smoking and shad again. AMEN!

I was a carpetbagger in North Carolina and had told a fellow
that I could do a good job smoking his shad. I can.
But,,,,I'd never tapped a bottle of Wild turkey before
starting the process. Total disaster. No Joke, I still feel
foolish over it.

Don't smile at me like that! Everyone has a story like Taz
and his brake calipers.

Be careful what you decide to not like. Your wife may wear one. Your son may ride one. Your daughter may bring one home. You may have to have one someday.
