We finally broke down and treated ourselves to a new ATV. 2011 Honda 420. Power steering, independent suspension, disc brakes, switch between auto and manual transmission and 2 or 4 wheel drive with the shift of a lever.

That looks good. and camo to boot.

I never understood the power steering thing until I rode an ATV in the woods. I bet that is an option worth its weight in gold.

Congradulations

I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

Congratulations.  the way you enjoy the outdoors...you need it.

the farmer where I hunt a lot has the same rig, and I use it to get deer out of the valleys and ravines with thick vegitation...a great machine...maybe too many options for me.  But the power really pulls deer out of brush and up the 40 degree slope.

Thanx guys. My buddy bought one too. He recommended Honda to me a while back and says they are reliable. Lots of guides and ranchers use them where he lives. With my Yamaha which is only a 250cc, i needed to take 2 or 3 runs at the ramps to get back into the box of the truck because of my weight and a deer laying across the front of the rack.

GOOD LOOKING RIG THERE..very nice scenery too.......Honda's have always been a favorite of mine ( had 3 wheelers, cycles and cars by Honda) but most of the atv's or cycles have been pretty "cold blooded" in cooler weather...but once warmed up are OK.  If the auto/stick shift system ever has problems it is a very spendy fix......but then it may never have a problem.

Thanx IBD. My hunting buddy has a couple of them Honda ATC 3 wheelers. Just looking at my Honda i can tell everything on there would cost a fair amount to repair. Just from looking at it i wouldn't even know where to begin.

Sure like them Hondas.

That is a nice size too. One that big is still fairly easy to get un-stuck.
While everyone likes the speed and power of the big bores they can
really dig themselves in. They need an electric winch where a hand
powered come-a-long works with the smaller ones.

I have a first year Honda 250 ATV. It is basically a Big Red three
wheeler with four wheels. It has those big high floatation rear wheels.
Just tow wheel drive but very rarely get stuck. I'm the second owner
and have had it almost 15 years now. The only problem and I hardly
call it one is it doesn't charge the battery. I end up having to kick start
it. Like was said it's cold blooded too. Other than that a set of tires a
spark plug and some oil changes are all I've done to it.

DD
Endeavor to persevere.

I just put a winch on this one a couple of weeks ago DD. With my Yamaha 250 i could pick up the rear end and shift it a bit if i needed to. Not this one haha. I think i'm picking it up but it's just the body i'm lifting cause of all the suspension. The only thing this doesn't have but i heard you can buy the kit for it is an emergency pull start in case of a dead battery OR i can buy one of those power packs that give you that boost when your battery is dead.

I have now a 2007 Suzuki Vinson 500 4x4.....warn winch installed & mostly use it for the plow and it came with a recoil starter/rope.  Carburator version not EFI.....Very satisfied with this rig.....starts great, runs good, factory tires yet but OK for the most part....that Moose Country "county plow" is really a super unit...moves snow like a big truck and without chains.....driveway is 480ft long and up hill both ways.....from the middle at the bridge...hee, hee...

Sweet looking rig IBD. I had to buy a Warn winch mounting kit and i got away with a Quadrax winch for $212.00 which fit the plate perfectly. It was either that or $489.00 for a warn winch but i buy things based on how often i think i'll use them. I got a Kolpin 6.0 gun boot too to fit my 50mm scope as my Plano boot is too small. However my Kolpin wont fit my Plano gun boot bracket so there's another $100.00 i'll need to pay
.

gary m.....the warn winch was a factory "incentive" at years end to move the machines out....they added the mounting kit, winch, roller fairlead & installation as part of the pkg deal. Also added the mirrors....nice to see behind sometimes....

Gary. They use to have a winch program/package at our Honda dealership but they stopped doing it for some reason. I dumped $12,000.00 in their lap and they still wanted another $80.00 to install my heated grips which i ended up doing myself. There was another identical Honda 420 that came with a winch on the lot but that got sold a few months before i went to buy mine. I drive by Honda everyday on my way to work and see all the quads sitting there and not one has a winch on it. The mounting kit alone cost me a $109.00. I was going to build my own plate like i did on my 94 Yamaha but it was a little more complicated with this newer model so i broke down and bought one instead.
