If it doesn't expand and If it exits it leaves with most of its energy.  Non was expended in damage.

Bullets that expand on a large animal will not expand when only a few inches thru a small animal.  FMJs don't expand, like a solid, so the wound channel is like a sword or arrow, it destroys only the tissue in the bullet hle and maybe 1/2" around the hole. While an expanding bullet goes in at say 30 cal (small hole) and exits with a 2-3 inch hole.   Fur friendly bullets have small in hole (22-39) and same size out, small.

small exit holes can be parched for mount or fur market.

I'll be sure to aim and hit the shoulder and send it through the other shoulder. It may not be dead but it can't run far with no fount lags.
