I was talking with some hunters and mentioned I usually only hunt public lands.  They were from out of state and were surprised that Pennsylvania has 4.2 million acres of public hunting grounds (mostly State Forests and State Game lands).  Most are heavily forested and mountainous; Like hunting Maine except more remote without all the logging traffic.

I would not have guessed.
1.77 percent of Texas's total land, 2,977,950 acres out of 168,217,600 total acres.

Confused

D, Texas wasn't even on my radar when looking to relocate. Hunting is a rich mans game in TX and I ain't rich!! I was spoiled my whole life, had thousands of acres of private land right of my front porch. The western states are pretty lucky with all the GOOD public land hunting. Arizona has tons of public land, the only issue here is the tag draw.

Sounds strange that Pennsylvania has more public hunting than Texas.

When in AZ on business, I would sneak out a half day varmint hunting in Tonto Natl Forest....never say the Lone Ranger!
