this time of year they are tough to sell because their hide isn't primed. however, there is still a market for them - taxidermists are the people to start w/. they'll point a buyer out to ya, or might even be interested in buying it themselves.

most folks around here leave 'em lay in the summer... too many diseases and parasites in the summer to want to handle them.

welcome to the board, btw.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

KyTiger,

Dakotasin is right about pelts being worthless, and at this point your libel to run into a buch of pups as they are just now starting to hunt.  In three weeks the pups will be hunting full time (many people Sept 1 to be the opening time to hunt yotes due to pup's).

I guess the question is are you hunting for control, or for fun.. If it's for fun you may want to experiment with calls and a camera, if it's for control it's probably best to leave them lay.

This time of year a good deal is to just find out where they are by traveling alot and calling so you have a better idea where to hunt when pelts are prime.  Other than that it's just fun calling them in.

This is mainly a hunt for fun.  We won't be putting our cows or goats out to pasture until late sept. then it will be to control. We had trouble last year with them killing a goat...although we still think it was the legendary panther we have roaming our farm.  I'm not sure that i will take many seeing how it will be the first time and this is more or less a calling experince.  I will however get in touch with my taxidermist next week to ask about pelts. Thanks for the suggestions...
