DANG Matt, you shucked that down to the cob. After seeing your reloading room, I have to believe that you are in the know about reloading......................Kingpin

Matt,

You forgot the Imperial sizing die wax, Sinclair shell holder and power adapter, and 3m medium grit flexible abrasive pad- the finest and fastest case cleaner there ever was. Just the thing for cleaning up those turned necks and getting that carbon off too.

What do you recommend for getting started in loading WinMag300 for bench shooting? I am brand new to reloading and want to ask Santa for toys. If I catch the bug, I will get into 223, 45 and 357mag. Thank you for the help.

not(e^[(-1/2)x^2])/(2pi)^(1/2)...not even close...
if your curious..graph it using limits of..
x:[-4,4] and y:[-0.1,0.5].
See if that rings a bell...
If you get it, you probably do n't fit in.

Prof;

From your post, I'm presuming that you're just getting into reloading, period & are not an experienced reloader.

In which case, buy at least - minimum - two reloading manuals & read them all the way through first.  My personal go-to books are the current Speer #13 & Hornady 6th.  I prefer these because the loads are developed in real-world guns, not test barrels.  If you pay attention to the test firearm, changes in loads from one manual to the next make sense.  For instance; when Speer changed from using the Ruger revolver to the Smith K-frame for .357 magnum loads, many letters were written frothing about G-D lawyers & Speer selling out.  When in fact,  the differences in the loads were attributable to the relative strengths & weaknesses of the test guns.

As a side note, the .300 Winchester magnum is perfectly capable of true bench rest accuracy.  It is a truly outstanding cartridge.  But, it's not a highly popular round for competition due to the recoil factor.  If you are considering getting into the accuracy game & testing your skills in competition, I'd suggest thinking about going to one of the current rounds that are available in SAAMI chamberings.  The 6mm PPC is merely the first that comes to mind.

300 win mag for bench competition... well, that's a huge leap from beginner w/ nothing to competitive reloading.

i suggest you just get your feet wet w/ loading first, before trying to get competitive w/ it. pick up a rockchucker kit, which will include the fantastic speer #13 manual. also, pick up a caliper, tumbler, powder trickler, 1000 federal 215 primers, 2 pounds matching lot # rl-22, and 200 sierra gamekings or hornady interlocks, rcbs or redding full length die set, and go from there.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

I have had an RCBS Rock Chucker for about 21 years and most of my other equipment is RCBS also.  I got a .45 cal shell stuck in my sizing die and called RCBS.  They said, send it in and if they couldn't fix it, they'd replace it, and replace it they did, no charge.  I was decapping some mixed 9mm brass for a friend and ran into a Berdan model which broke the decaping pin.  I called them up and two days later, I had a package with three new decaping pins!  No charge!

You can't beat a good thing...I have a Lee turret press that I have yet to set up and a Rock Chucker that I use all the time.  I am an RCBS man all the way!
