Unless a person is shooting a T/C with the super14 barrel or longer, you're going to be pretty hard pressed to get any bullet over the 158's going to 1500+ and keep pressures at a sain level.

For the purposes Dakota wants to use his 357 for a 158gr semiwadcutter will do just fine. I have pushed those to 1700 out of a Blackhawk using lilgun powder, but the accuracy wasn't anything to brag about.

The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

i went w/ 158 lswc from oregon trail. says on the box they are guaranteed to not lead your barrel. gun shop tells me they are linotype - whatever that means - and extremely hard.

getting ready to start load development on them. if our weather will hold, might be able to get some shooting in today or tomorrow. i'll be starting w/ 2400, and accuracy testing at 50 yards over the chrony. figure starting w/ 13 grains and working up in .2 grain increments ought to give me a pretty good picture.

i've loaded cast bullets in my 480 before, but had, and still have actually, a problem w/ bullets jumping their crimp. i figure that had more to do w/ the heavy recoil than my crimping or bullet choice.

some loads i put together in 38 special using 125 hp/xtp worked really well in my s&w j-frame, so hopefully i can find out if i can crimp lead 357's worth a damn or not. update tomorrow, hopefully.

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.
