Hey Spot, do you like this avatar more than that pig? It seems more masculine than the pink pig.

Interesting thread title, brought back memories of a bloke I once hunted deer with.He was a vegetarian. He still got pleasure out of hunting but never ate the venison, gave it all away.I asked him if killing game without eating it gave him moral dilemas. He said not really, he considered hunting, shooting and killing a sport. He said 99% of hunters did not need to hunt to survive(you can buy meat including venison at butchers) but they choose to hunt for the enjoment the act gives.Do we need to hunt, probably not.Do we enjoy hunting definetly. Is it a a primeval urge left over from our past, who really cares.I love most forms of hunting.I am definetly not what I eat or I would look like some sort of mosaic(chicken, beef ,pork, etc).Have a good one macca.

Macca,

Your an honest man, the thread points out jest what your sayin.  We don't really hunt too eat, we do it for some other reasons.  What they are is different fer each man, it's not better than sex, but I can go huntin when I want too so it balances out.

Damn Spot.  That was some care package you sent!  Been feedin' off sheep cheese all weekend.  Got my bowels bound up sumthin' fierce.  Good cheese.  Kind of a cross betwixt feta an' parmesan.  Tried in a omelette, in a burrito, over chili, with sausage an crackers.  I'm savin' the deer sticks for huntin' season.  Be a lil' change of pace from jerky.  Soon as I git another rig to dry my jerky in I'll send you some.  There was still some small pieces of ice in the cooler.  'Bout perfect amount you had in there the wife said.  Anyhoo, thanks agin.  I'm definitely gonna git one of them vaccum packers.

Muleskinner,

Don't think you suppose to eat it all in one weekend but glad you enjoyed it anyway.  The processor that makes them stick fer me vacumm packs them as part of the deal.  Those don't need to be refrigerated, just keep in a cool place, without any temp variance (if that's possible).   I freeze them cause they last all year.
