  Hey Folks

  Weird question ain't it?

If any of you saw my picture of my Mulie mount holding my 721 on the gun page, you'll notice the mount is in bad need of a new cape.Belive it or not that deer was mounted in the late 70's by a taxadermist in Colo. that if he's still in the trade he shouldn't be,rub your hand over it and you'll get a handful of hair.

The lady here that does my mounts now says if I can get her a new cape she will redo it for me right, told her a mulie hunt anytime soon wasn't gonna happen but she says, theres folks that I can get one from, just look around.

I always thought it was illegal to sell things like that. If not anyone here got any legal leads?

Perfectly legal here. You might call Bruce Babcock, Kalispell, Montana, and see if he has a scalp to sell you.

Mike,

If you are not in a big hurry I would be more than happy to send you a salted cape next season. If I give it to you that aint selling it and I think all I need is a interstate game tag. Or is that a intrastate. Oh well it dont matter I will get the proper tags and send it to you if you want it.

(I dont shoot trophies any way)

How about a boar hide? Now that would look funny and scary at the same time. Hmmmmm maybe a little project is in order.  Maybe i should see if i can make a Wild Russian Whitetail or something?

Mike,

Measure your mount by following the link, and then tell me what the measures are.  You need a cape that will fit your form, or you change the form out.  Do you like the pose you have now?

http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/measurements.php

Thet mullies got a real white face, good you posted a picture.  I take one or two does a year, and this year I've got two tag along's that will probably get one each.  If you pay fer the shippin, I'll send you the best of the lot, unless it's got horns and I'm gonna stuff it myself.  Did taxidermy when I was a kid, birds were my specialty, never got to deer.  Get the measurements and let everyone know, but like I said you can change out to a new for pretty easy as long as the skull plate is still in the one ya got.

The form is OK it's a sneak pose,it fits in a room with low ceilings well.

Mr Mom - Now ya'all know that here in Tenn. we gotta get a few more teeth before we need a tooth pick.

              Thanks Again Folks.

Mike,

When you get a chance ask the Taxi-dermist that's gonna do the how they prefer the cape done, heck I could ship the hole head to you if they'd let me, but most likely you won't want to pay the shippin fer that.  I normally cut around the front leg's, up accross the back, then work her over the head cutting the ear cart-lidge, and keepin the nose on it.  If I do get this done, I'll take a picture of it first so they got somethin to work with.

Hey Folks

  You all are great.

The face on that poor buck was not quite as bad as he is now,I think it all has to do with the way the guy did it for me back then,he didn't have a shop like most folks just a friend of a friend.

When I showed it to the lady that does my stuff now,she was going to try to clean it up for me but the hair is falling out so bad she advised against it,thats when she told me about a new cape and redoing it.

Wingmaster and Spotshooter, thanks alot guys I really thank you for all  your help.

Tikka,

Found a pict of a 6 point I took that broke all it's point's off of.  It has coloration pretty similar to what yours had.  Take a look, excuse the blood it was hanging just afore we quartered it.

He does have alot of white on his face, where did you get him?  I always wondered if the difference in colors and markings was from different locations, that one I got came from around Gunnison,Colo.

This one is from Goodland Kansas, some where about 15 miles from the Colorado boarder.  Forgot they had so much light color, we took care of them fast due to that day bein unusually hot.
