Topic: what is your favorite place to camp? Posted: 12 June 2003 at 12:06 |
for me, no matter where i go or live or travel to, the best place to camp will always be along beaver creek in the bearspaw mountains south of havre, montana!

it is! best part about it is that it is in an area that the rest of the world thinks is uninhabitable (sp?). the bearspaws are kind of an island of paradise on a sea of wasteland. i love em.

Now Ron! What do you mean a "wasteland"?? North Central Montana is a beautiful area! There are rivers and trees (well one, anyway. River, that is!). Wheat fields as far as the eye can see. . . It's beautiful here!!

Little Bitterroot River, above Hubbart Reservoir in N.W. Montana. We watched a moose swimming around in the reservoir a couple weeks ago.

One of these days, technology will get to the point where it's sophisticated enough for me to use it. At that time I'll be able to post photographs, not digital images. Without using this new 'scanner' thing. I mean, I've got a scanner, left over from the '70's CB radio days, and it don't work worth crap for photographs.
I'd love for all of you to see some of my photo's. Camping west of Gibson reservoir. Motorcycles, guns, stuff like that. All I want to do is hold the slide or photo up against the screen & punch a key.

Gibson Reservoir, over by Augusta, Montana? Beautiful area! I've hunted bighorn and elk around there.

Waksupi;
That's the place. Have you ever gone up to Teton Pass ski area & then hiked in from there? Or gotten over to Benchmark?

Nope, never at the Teton Pass ski area. My girlfriend has a cabin on Benchmark we go to frequently. Don't tell anyone about that area. It's a secret.

Some time ago my job took me to the highline once a month. The drive from Havre to Shelby should be issued as punishment for traffic offenses.

Yeahbut ain't that many know it's there, or use it. The old boys with the cabins right across from it fly in occasionally, but that is mainly a FS firefighting strip.

Fairly soon, i will have a camping spot all to myself. it will be in my favorite hunting area. It is a camp that i am going to build over the summer. It wont be very big but it will be a good camp for me to be in because i am putting at at a very strategic place. As soon as i make out the plans i will post them in one form or another, and when i get it finished, i will have lots of pictures of it to show you guys.
