Fella's;

My son recently vacationed in Innsbruck Austria.  I asked him to please look for & visit a gunshop, if he could find one.  Today I got the catalog from Jagdwaffen Fuchs delivered.  Of course, I don't really know who these people are, but the catalog is a very high-quality 270 page full-color production featuring what are obviously good-to-premium lines & items for sale.

Among which are Mauser rifles.  And although my German language skills are rustyer'n hell, I made out that any Mauser model 03 is available in left hand bolt.  Believe me, that caught my interest!  So I went to ASK.com & searched for Mauser 03.  Lo & behold, there is an American distributor.  They are Briley manufacturing.  The web site is:  www.mauser-usa.net.

So, my search for a Mauser actioned left hand bolt, 6.5 Swede ends with - MAUSER!  I'm going to contact Briley, but according to the web site, the cost should be approximately $1,400.00 for the gun.  That's above the run-of-the-mill gun emporium Brownings, Rems, and the soon-to-be-re-released Winchester model 70's, but not all that far above.  And go try to find an LHB 6.5 Swede anyplace else as an off the shelf gun.  Good luck, yer gonna need it.  I looked for many years without coming up with anything except catalog ghosts.  You know, "It's cataloged, but there will be a waiting period of forever before we can actually get one for you".

Now to see if the stars align & the actual price is remotely close to the catalog price.

 The 03 is produced by Mauser but not a M98 design. Looks like nice rifles though.

Rob;

I know it's not a M98 design, but it is a Mauser.  And, as I said above, try to find a left handed 6.5 Swede anyplace else.

On top of that, it's designed as a switch-barrel, ala Blaser.  I'll have to enquire as to the cost of additional barrels.  I might even have to break down & buy another Zeiss & make it a total-Euro gun.

I need one. Very badly.

Oh CB, your prices are a bit off. If you download the price sheet, the M03 Rifle itself in one caliber costs $3395 for a wood blued gun, plus $500 for a lefty, so that makes it $3895 for your Swede. The barrels are the part that are $1500 each for spares. I would say that runs a bit higher than run-of-the-mill Sturm Rembrownchesters.

NH;

Yup, I re-checked it.  I had picked up the price of an extra barrel as the price of the gun.  You're right, a left hand 6.5 would be more like $3895.00.  And I think I'd be lucky to get it at that price.

So, any 03 Mauser is available in a left handed configuration, but they don't love us.

CB900F:

Just browsing, and saw your post.  I hope this doesn't violate the rules of the forum, but I have a friend who has for sale a very nice Steyr-Mannlicher left-hand bolt rifle in 6.5x55.  It's a beautiful gun, and a good shooter.  It has a rotary magazine and a set trigger.  I'm not certain of the price, but I would be happy to find out.
